Like electronic mail (e-mail), Internet chat is a communications tool. Chat allows you to send instant messages to people and receive instant feedback. Chatting, therefore, is simply the exchanging of personal instant messages between users. Although there are many chat services available, such as ICQ, Microsoft Messenger, and Yahoo! Messenger, I highly recommend the AOL Instant Messenger™ (AIM) service. AIM allows you to communicate with your family, friends, and co-workers in real-time, sending and receiving text messages and links across the Internet. In additon to this feature, AIM includes other features such as a News Ticker, Chat rooms, and File Transfers.
