As with any of Netscape Communicator's components, you can change the preferences to your liking. With Messenger, you can change certain settings to customize how Messenger handles your e-mail messages, how your messages are displayed, update personal information, and other settings. To open the Preferences menu, click the Edit menu and select Preferences. This will open the Preferences menu. To view the Mail & Newsgroups settings, select "Mail and Newsgroups" in the Category pane (left). as seen below.
From here, you can specify various settings for your Messenger. To move from one setting to another, click the item you want to make changes to in the Category pane. A little experimentation doesn't hurt, but remember to jot down the default settings first just in case you change your mind and want to revert to the default settings. Be sure to click OK when you are finished to save your new settings!
