Like free Web hosts, there are plenty of free electronic mail (e-mail) providers on the Internet. These free e-mail services are usually funded entirely by advertising. Plus, on the bottom of every e-mail that you send out, there usually is a footer advertising the free service. Free e-mail accounts are web-based. This means you can easily access your e-mail from wherever you are: at work, while traveling, at the local public library, or at school in the computer lab. Sending and receiving e-mail can be as easy as going to a free e-mail provider, logging in, and sending an e-mail. When you register to get a free e-mail account, you will receive an e-mail address which can only be accessed by you using a password that you selected. Some web-based e-mail services also offer many useful features usually found on true e-mail clients, like Netscape Messenger, such as an address book, attachments, signatures, message filters, and the ability to check your POP mail accounts.
